WELCOME TO LAKE CHAPALA

Lake Chapala View

Lake Chapala is the largest body of water in Mexico. Truly a paradise nestled in the Sierra Madre mountains of Jalisco. At an elevation of approximately 5,200 feet the climate is enhanced by changing seasons from dry winters to rainy seasons bringing the mountains alive with color.

The area boasts the world's best climate, with warm sunny days and cool nights at an average temperature of 75 degrees Fahrenheit. North Americans have been coming here for the better part of the century, estimating more than 8,000 foreigners -- mostly Americans and Canadians -- living on the north shore of Lake Chapala.

Offering a wide range of fabulous restaurants and hotels, local gift shops, golf, tennis and only a short drive from the International Airport and Guadalajara, the "City of Roses," which has everything one could expect from a bustling city. Guadalajara does offer many shopping opportunities, including a Sears, Wal-Mart, Price Club and a Samīs just to name a few. A direct bus can be taken from Ajijic every Friday into Guadalajara to the main shopping area.

Definitely a place "where people come for the climate and stay because of the people."
